    Shell GameChanger Innovation Challenge

    On behalf of Shell GameChanger, TechConnect invites you to submit your innovative technology ideas and/or proposals to address the challenges defined below for consideration for funding and partnership through the GameChanger program. Shell will be meeting with prospective entrepreneurs at the TechConnect World Innovation Conference, May 14-17, 2017 in Washington, D.C.

    Shell GameChanger is soliciting early-stage innovative technology solutions and proposals in the following categories for potential funding and partnership opportunities. Proposals are due June 30th, applicants will be notified of interest by July 31st.
    New Energies
    • Solar Fuels
    • Grids of the Future
    • Digitalization Machine Learning
    Oil and Gas
    • Safety and Sustainability
    • Real-time monitoring, control, and data analytics
    • Improved hydrocarbon recovery
    • Environment & Conservation – Water

    Shell GameChanger applies the following criteria for consideration:
    • Novelty – Is the idea fundamentally different and unproven?
    • Valuable – Could the idea create substantial new value if it works?
    • Doable – Is there a plan to prove the concept quickly and affordably?
    • Relevant (Why Shell?) – Is the idea relevant to the future of energy?

  • SURDNA FOUNDATION – Sustainable Environments Grants

     

    Program areas include -
    Sustainable Transportation Networks & Equitable Development Patterns;
    Energy Efficiency in the Built Environment;
    Urban Water Management;
    Regional Food Supply

    Up to 15% indirect costs allowed; Grant amounts - the grant amount you ask for should relate directly to the amount that is needed to successfully complete the project; grant amounts average $100,000 per year; project duration may be up to three years; LOIs are accepted on a rolling basis through the foundation’s online application form.     Defense Production Act (DPA) Title III Advanced Drop-In Biofuels Production Project (ADBPP) Biofuels 2

    This Title III project is to further increase domestic advanced biofuels production capacity by establishing additional Integrated Biofuel Production Enterprise (IBPE) capabilities that represent a complete value chain including Feedstock production, Chemical conversion and processing, and Fuels blending, transportation and logistics. As well as to design, retrofit, construct, operate, validate and qualify domestic, commercial-scale, integrated biorefinery(s) capable of meeting the following requirements:Capable of producing bio-equivalent fuels suitable for military useRated capacity of at least 10M gallons of neat biofuel per yearProducing fuel domesticallyAcceptable feedstockCompliant with Energy Independence Security Act of 2007 (EISA), Section 526 (green house gases). Proposals may take the form of either Brown Field expansion/modification of existing Pilot-scale facilities, commercial-scale facilities, or new Green Field construction. Attention will be paid to enhancing merchant supplier capabilities in order to effectively serve the broad DoD and non-DoD communities.

    The purpose of this Notice of Intent is to provide potential applicants advance notice that the Department of Energy, Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy intends to issue, on behalf of the Vehicle Technologies Office, a Funding Opportunity Announcement, number DE-FOA-0001629 entitled "FY 2017 Vehicle Technologies Program Wide Funding Opportunity Announcement". PLEASE NOTE THAT NO APPLICATIONS WILL BE ACCEPTED THROUGH THIS NOTICE. Please do not submit questions or respond to this Notice of Intent. Prospective applicants to the FOA should begin developing partnerships, formulating ideas, and gathering data in anticipation of the issuance of this FOA. It is anticipated that this FOA will be posted to the EERE Exchange website in the December 2016 timeframe.
